Project Energy Society with Jonas Birgersson aims to create an abundance of clean energy for a low, fixed fee. EnergyNet puts the idea into practice: a grid that brings together local generation, storage and energy sharing. Here we follow its journey from idea to reality.
After the network society comes the energy society
In the 1990s, Jonas Birgersson became an internet pioneer by promising and delivering all the internet you need for a low fee. Now he wants to do the same with electricity.
“For a low fixed price, you have all the electricity you need.”
The vision combines local electricity generation, batteries and other energy storage, energy sharing and an open standard. EnergyNet connects these elements into a resilient grid designed for electrification.
Watch Jonas Birgersson and Mathias Sundin present the idea behind the energy society (in Swedish).
